Install iMovie on iPad1 in 10 simple steps

I don’t know if you were, but I was upset when Apple said that iMove would not be available for download for the original iPad. Most of us thought it was for hardware restrictions, like multitasking on the iPhone 3G. This is not the case, and the guys over at 9to5Mac have figured out a way to install the latest version on the original iPad without jailbreaking.

To use it, you have to use the readily available iPhone Configuration Utility. (Download Windows and Mac versions here and here.) The steps are as follows:

  1. Download the Configuration Utility from the links above
  2. Plug your iPad in and launch the Configuration Utility
  3. Click on the “Applications” tab in the sidebar
  4. Click “Add” in the top right hand corner
  5. Navigate to your iTunes library (~/Music/iTunes/Mobile Applicatons) could vary on where you placed it. (Spotlight/searching is excellent)
  6. Find the iMovie file, you can spotlight search it, just look for the one that was most recently modified
  7. Click “Open”
  8. Navigate to your iPad in the sidebar and click on “Applications.”
  9. Find iMovie in the giant list, click “Install”
  10. Let it sync, launch iMovie on your iPad. Boom you’re done.

they both work great =) quick note you will need to have updated to iOS4.3 in order to sync the new iMovie to your iPizzel but garage band works fine on iOS4.2. it was fun getting a preview of these apps but now it's time to go get the new iPad, can't wait for 5pm!
