Use your iPad to keep your kids from drawing on walls

Many of you may, or may not know, but I have an 18 month old daughter. Currently she’s going through the phase of talking, jumping and drawing. According to her pre-school nursery staff, she’s an incredible artist for her age. Sadly, at home, the challenge is restricting her to drawing on paper. A quick tour of our house will reveal crayon scribbles on walls, wooden floors, doors and anything she finds to unveil her expressionist art.

Thankfully there’s an app for that. At least, there will be from Spring this year. Crayola’s ColorStudio HD is and app for iPad that offers a virtual animated coloring book, plus a magic pen, called the iMarker. The press release reads as follows:

Crayola ColorStudio HD is an entirely new digital play experience, coupling a multi-activity drawing application for iPad (Crayola ColorStudio HD App) with a custom-built digital stylus, called Crayola iMarker™. Together with iMarker, the ColorStudio HD App allows young artists to color and interact with special “live” animated coloring book pages that move and react as they color, combining custom-produced pictures, animations, music, sound effects, and high quality special effects.

It will cost a cent short of $30, and include the app, iMarker, tutorials and obviously any updates that are released for the software over time.
