‘The Daily’ to be released in the next 14 days

For a few months now rumors have been circling about the upcoming release of the first digital only newspaper for iPad. In that time the speculation has been that Apple and News Corp were at loggerheads trying to resolve an in-app subscription model that worked for both Cupertino and the publishing giants.

The Daily will costs 99 cents per week, and should hopefully be available at some point in the next two weeks. That’s the plan at least, according to James Murdoch, son of media mogul, Rupert. One worrying fact is that there has been a sharp decline in the number of people purchasing digital magazines on the iPad. For instance, Wired magazine has seen a fall from 100,000 users in June 2010, to only 22,000 in October. This could be the case for The Daily when its launched, early interest i’m sure will be high, but gradually it will lose interest and only those who genuinely enjoy it will take it on more permanently.
