Apple sell record amount of iPhones and iPads

Apple, yesterday, announced the results to its last financial quarter. Q1 of 2011 for Cupertino is basically the holiday season of 2010, confusing? Anyhow, in this quarter Apple has made a statement in the tech world by shelling a ma-hoosive amount of iPhones and iPads.

In total, in Q1, 16.24 million iPhones were sold plus 7.33 million iPads. It’s hard to imagine that amount, at least for me, so let’s break it down. If the quarter is made up of roughly 90 days, that means that every hour, on average, Apple sold around 7,500 iPhones, that’s 125 every minute! For the iPad it’s slightly less, but equally as impressive, with around 3,393 units per hour, or 57 per minute.

It will be interesting to see what affect the Verizon iPhone’s release will have on Apple’s sales numbers, when it’s launched next month, but, it appears as if Apple’s iDevice range is going from strength to strength.

“We had a phenomenal holiday quarter with record Mac, iPhone and iPad sales,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “We are firing on all cylinders and we’ve got some exciting things in the pipeline for this year including iPhone 4 on Verizon which customers can’t wait to get their hands on.”
