Fortune’s number 3 business man is… Steve Jobs

Behind Netflix CEO, Reed Hastings and Ford CEO Alan Mulally, Steve Jobs proudly sits in third spot on Fortune’s list of top businessmen. It’s fair to say that this year hasn’t been an easy ride for the Cupertino chief. First the iPad, simply put, Apple couldn’t make them fast enough to meet demand, pushing back the release date overseas while the pre-orders in the States were all being fulfilled.

After that came the iPhone 4 shenanigans. “Antennagate” followed by “No-white-iPhones-gate” then the rather lame “glassgate”. The phone that supposedly changed everything again did not have an easy time. Despite that, the iPhone 4 sold in record breaking numbers, the iPad practically has the monopoly in the tablet market and Apple’s recently had its best ever financial quarter. It’s fair to say Steve Jobs rode the storm, and came out the other side dry. Let’s just hope he can get some sort of master-plan together to ensure the white iPhone 4 is released sooner rather than later.
