Spy Stick USB accesses iPhone’s deleted data

Have you ever deleted a text message, note or contact, and then realized you wanted to keep it? Well, now you can get it back, at a cost of $199. The appropriately named iPhone Spy Stick can access deleted data on an iPhone and save it to a computer. It looks like an ordinary USB stick, but has an adapter so that it can plug into your phone to retrieve the deleted data.

The Spy Stick website holds no punches and plainly lists some features and potential uses of the device:
Features:
• Download texts and see calls placed
• Recover deleted contacts and appointments
• See images and other media
• View map history, including locations searched with GPS coordinates
• Access notes, voice memos, multimedia and text data
• Download data simply by plugging in and pressing “start”
• Save any iPhone info to a computer, and move around like files on any other drive
• Exterior looks like ordinary USB flash drive
.
Popular Uses:
• Get evidence of a cheating spouse
• Monitor children’s text messages and web  use
• Enterprise security of employees using company iPhones
• Restore trashed files
.
The USB stick can currently only be used on iPhone’s with iOS 3.2.1 and earlier, but the October version of the product will be usable on iOS 4 devices too. At $199, it’s not cheap, but if recovering important data from your handset is critical, at least it does offer an alternative. More worrisome are the bevy of malicious  (and creepy) actions that could suddenly be made simple with an item like this.
