Source of Apple leaks plugged

Have you ever wondered why Apple rumors are so pertinent and plentiful? Some may attributed this to enthused journalists, but clearly a dark horse is involved, considering the sometimes scary accuracy of these reports. Now several sources are reporting an Apple employee has been leaking inside information for kickbacks.
Paul Shin Devine, out of Sunnyvale, CA, has been indicted by a grand jury on 23 counts — including kickbacks, money laundering, and wire fraud. Apparently, Devine used his security clearance within Apple to provide Apple’s suppliers with confidential product information. These suppliers then used the information to negotiate favorable deals and contracts with Apple.
Apple has strongly defended its privacy in the past, legally prosecuting Gizmodo for purchasing a stolen iPhone 4 prototype. In regards to Devine, Apple spokesman Steve Dowling said,”We [Apple] have zero tolerance for dishonest behavior inside or outside the company.” Apple has a very active legal team, and along with the FBI and IRS, Devine can expect no less than jail time for his actions.
Personally, I’m happy Apple is sealing this issue. Reading the rumor sites and seeing stolen prototypes reduces the joy and excitement of Apple media events. As a society, we love surprises. Hopefully with Devine behind bars and would-be leaks cut short, Apple allure can grow and new products can flourish in mystery.
