From time to time, I receive  reader questions about jailbreaking and unlocking their iPhones. I do my best to answer each of those questions. But today, I wanted to u reach out to one reader particular.

Terri emailed me with several issues that I feel all of us can learn from.

So let’s start with the overall concern that Terri is having with jailbreakme.com. From what I have read and experienced, some users are having issues with crashing from the use of this site. Most, if not all of these problems have been resolved by the iPhone Dev team. Terri, if you decide to jailbreak again, I am to believe you shouldn’t have these same issues. Now with that said, I am not suggesting you do so, I am just saying that these developers have been working hard to fix previous issues.

Up next would be the concern of the white pixelated line that appears at the top of your screen at the boot screen. I can say without a doubt this is normal. I was a bit worried myself when I first saw this pop up on my iPhone when I jailbroke. But I haven’t seen any problems from this.

Finally, I will say that if you are looking to unlock your iPhone with iOS 4.0.1, you will need to use ultrasn0w which is found in Cydia. One other piece of advice that I would suggest when attempting the jailbreaking process, flip your iPhone’s wifi on. This will allow for a faster connection to load the software necessary to jailbreak. I had a similar issue when I was jailbreaking, it froze on me and wouldn’t complete the full jailbreak. I had to restore my iPhone and attempted again using my wifi connection. I personally didn’t experience this issue again.
