Frash: Flash for the common jailbreaker

Everyone who owns an iPhone knows about the sticky argument going on between Apple and Adobe about the latter’s dynamic web content technology, Flash. Apple says it’s too buggy and takes away from the whole experience of the iPhone and can create security holes. Adobe says that Flash is more than capable on today’s mobile devices and has it working on Android 2.2 devices. So who is right?

Well we don’t care who is right now, do we? We just want some stinkin’ Flash already. Well over half of the internet can only be accessed by using Flash (albeit well over half of that is ads). So now the same guy that released Jailbreakme has now released his own port of Flash for the iPhone, called Frash. Now the entire web can be at your finger tips — if you have a jailbroken device.

This hack has made it possible to get flash running on iPhones, but it’s not without its bugs. It can slow down your device and sometimes Flash won’t render at all. But at least it’s a step in the right direction.
