Apple sues “inferior quality” iPhone, iPod and iPad accessory manufacturers
Yet another lawsuit in the life of Jobs&Co. This time, it’s by the Cupertino technology giant, against accessory makers. When iPod came out originally Apple created a “made for iPod” program. This scheme forced certain designers and manufacturers of accessories to comply with a set of guidelines dictated by Steve Jobs’ company. Not only were there tight controls, but, Cupertino also claimed as much as 25% of the profit from these gadget enhancers.
According to the complaint made by Apple; “many are of inferior quality and reliability, raising significant concerns over compatibility with and damage to Apple’s products.” Now I for one can vouch for this. My car only has a cassette player, and so the only way to play music from my iPhone was to purchase one of those cassette tape shaped adapters. Despite it being sold as compatible with my device, the 3.5 jack was not designed to fit perfectly, and so ruined one of the connectors in my jack socket. This broke my voice control/handsfree channel. Other examples include battery chargers that drain the device’s juice instead of topping it up.
