Pacman-style wallpaper for retro arcade fans [updated]

I used to waste a lot of summers playing retro arcade games, and Pacman was tops on the list. So I had quite some nostalgia last month, when the circle dude marked his 30th birthday. The webs filled up with honorary themes, Flash games and other goodies celebrating the occasion.

Here’s one that iOS 4 users can sink their teeth into: There’s a Pacman-themed wallpaper you can download for your device from the Japanese site Madin that fits perfectly on that 3.5-inch screen.

Ain’t it cute? On your iPod Touch or iPhone, the static graphic aligns perfectly with your apps and folders to creating the game maze. Our favorite yellow man chomps the dots surrounding them as his ghostie enemies close in.

Bear in mind, it’s not playable nor is it animated, like the “live wallpapers” our Android-using counterparts get to enjoy. But don’t be too jealous — at least this hit of nostalgia won’t kill your battery life.

UPDATE: It appears the Madin site that hosts the PNG file isn’t loading at this time. Is it because the file got pulled or because of a surge of traffic, due to the huge interest in this wallpaper? Not sure, but if you’re hot for this image, you may want to check periodically to see if the site suddenly gets “unstuck.”
