Free Cases for all!

Today at Apple’s press conference, Apple owned up to their mistake with antenna issues. Jobs acknowledged that Apple isn’tÂ perfectÂ and neither are its cell phones, but the company wants to make all of its customers happy. So, what is apple going to do about this problem?

The first thing is the software fix. Apple released iOS 4.0.1 which corrects the formula for the way the signal bars are displayed at the top. The second thing is something we thought would never happen. Apple even told its employees not to do it… APPLE IS GIVING AWAY FREE CASES!

If you have already bought a Bumper case, you will get a refund for the purchase amount. And anyone who gets an iPhone 4 before September 30th gets a free case. And since Apple can’t crank Bumpers out fast enough, they are teaming up with third parties to outsource other cases and will give users a choice. Owners can go to Apple’s website and register for this offer starting next week.

Are they going to fix the whole antenna problem with the next batch of iPhones or are they going to keep on giving free cases? They should fix the antenna problem with the white one.

That was a theory why the white one was delayed. And they are only giving away cases until September 30th.

Uhh No, Apple Isn't Giving Away Free Bumper Cases, They're Giving Away Cases, But Not Bumper Cases.

Good point. But they're refunding the purchase amount for people who bought Bumpers, which makes it free. Apple said there couldn't be enough Bumpers made in this quarter to accommodate all the demand, so they're looking into other suppliers. Whether these cases supplant the Bumpers or will be offered as additional choices has yet to be revealed, as far as I know. Still, good looking out, Skyler. We'll remove the word "Bumper" in one part of the post for now, to avoid confusion until we get confirmation. Thanks!

I got a bumper but I don't like it. I hope that they have full body covers. I am pretty pleased. :)

You understand, this is a work around and not a fix to the RF engineering design flaw. You can be happy but don't be satisfied by some free gimmick. It's a cheap plastic piece which really cost not more than 2 dollars and they charged 10-15 times higher price. I am just saying to be smart thats all.

Y would you want a full body and cover up the perfect details and all the money they put in giving you such a nice back cover made out of glass... bad choice to want to cover the whole thing, takes the point out!

I think it was a good move on Apple's end to offer cases/bumpers for the Iphone 4. I will definitley Of course some will still complain but at least it is somewhat a apology/fix right..?
