Firefox home officially released

Earlier this month Firefox home was announced, and so the buzz began for all those fans. Today, your patience has been rewarded with its release in iTunes.

Those who are familiar with Firefox will be able to sync with their computers browser including your bookmarks, history and passwords. This will allow users to continue searching on their iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch where they left off at home. Though it may not be an actual browser like Safari or Internet Explorer, you will be able to take advantage of continuing searches where you left off and have access to all of your bar data and password information.

If you plan to use this app, users will need to set up a Firefox Sync account and can do so for free.

Firefox home is free to download.

Those of you who decide to take advantage of this app, let us know your experiences in the comments below. So, will this prompt any of you to give up Safari desktop and use Firefox or another Mozilla browser at home now? Weigh in.

Edited: Initial post asked if this would replace Safari for anyone. Missed the work “desktop” on here. Sorry for any confusion. No, Firefox home is not a browser and cannot replace mobile Safari on your phone. But it might make desktop Safari users consider defecting to Firefox and similar Mozilla desktop browsers, especially if you can continue a browsing session on your phone, no? The post was edited to reflect that.
