Best Buy to offer free invisibleSHIELDS to iPhone 4 customers?

According to Engadget, Best Buy is going to give away free ZAGG antenna shielding strip kits, known as “invisibleSHIELD 4FIX” to any iPhone 4 customers* who bought their device at the big box retailer. Not only do you get the kit (normally priced at $9.99) for free, but they will also install it for free. You get the seven “invisible” strips that stick to your iPhone antenna using adhesive for the low, low price of nada. (Man, this is beginning to feel like an infomercial.)

Presumably this is a measure to insure customer satisfaction and guard against returns. Also, when you give people free stuff, they usually stay and buy more, right? Either way, this is clearly Best Buy’s answer to Apple’s bumper and case program. Personally, I would still also get a case to protect my investment from mishaps a thin piece of scratch-resistant plastic couldn’t handle. But if you prefer the look of a “naked” iPhone, and still want some help with the antenna issue, then this is a no-brainer.

*The offer only applies if you purchased your iPhone 4 from Best Buy or Best Buy Mobile. But the retailer’s also extending this offer to Best Buy Reward Zone members. It’s actually simple to sign up for the aforementioned reward program, so it should be pretty easy to take part in this deal.

Any takers?
