Rumor: Verizon CDMA iPhone by January 2011

According to a couple of sources in the know, by January Verizon could be selling the iPhone. A writer for Bloomberg said that she has information from two people who “know the plans”. Clearly this will finally end AT&T’s exclusivity, and will bring the iPhone to around 100 million extra customers, meaning mega bucks for Steve-o and his gang in Cupertino.

Interestingly, the author of the post writes as if it is fact. However, to me, it’ll always be a rumor until the long awaited CDMA version is finally released. Spokespeople from Apple and Verizon both declined to comment as to whether or not this information is true. Which, to me, means it looks like it’s guaranteed to happen, but I will remain cynical, for now at least.

It seems as though evidence is mounting for this eventuality. In the last few weeks information was leaked that a Taiwanese company was readying its factories to start producing CDMA iPhones by November this year. Couple this with the latest scoop, and it’s starting to get interesting.
