iPad news: New data plans, CDMA rumor and how to hide a tablet
Verizon-friendly iPad?
Since no one really knows whether or not Apple are making a Verizon iPhone, it seems another rumor has popped up. This time regarding the iPad. Verizon is reportedly working hard to get its LTE high speed network up and running in as many places as possible. According to Apple Insider, Cupertino are also working hard, to design a CDMA version of the “revolutionary and magical” touch screen device, otherwise known as the iSlate. (Remember when we all thought it would be called that? Seems dumb now, right?) In fact, it seems, according to Boy Genius Report that Verizon are already testing this, as yet unconfirmed, hardware.
One thing that does entice me about this, is that a couple of days back Jobs was saying how the company is working hard on the whole tethering issue. Does this mean that if they do solve this problem, and release a LTE compatible iPad that you could possible use the device as a mobile hotspot? If Verizon get its high speed 4G connection going, this could be incredible. However, the source of this said rumor has been incorrect in the past, so I’ll only believe it when I see it.

AT&T announces new data plans for iPad
So you may have thought $30 per month to get unlimited data usage on your 3G iPad was pretty generous, so do AT&T it seems. From June 7th the company will be completely changing its current data packages for new customers. Like the change to the iPhone data pricing, the current, no contract, plan for the tablet will be replaced with a $25 plan with a 2GB download cap. Clearly wanting to ease up the network to make it more stable is the main aim here, but, is this just going to irritate its customers even more? The good news is that no one on the current plan has to change to the new package, but anyone buying the plan from June 7th will not be able to subscribe to the $30 unlimited version. If any of you are still sitting on the fence regarding getting an iPad 3G plan, I’d get it before the 7th.

And finally…
Need I say more? Some Japanese guy has decided to cleverly disguise his 9.7″ touch screen toy by hiding it in a “newspaper”. I’m presuming this minimizes the risk of being mugged, or damaging the device. I actually think this is pretty ingenious, although if I was sitting in the same spot as him every day, I think I’d notice that he never turned a page, and would soon become suspicious.
