“Jailbreakers’ Tuesday”

Welcome into TodaysiPhone.com! Please have a look around and I hope you enjoy what we have to offer to the everyday user. Now that we have been up and running for a little while I have convinced Adriana to allow us to bring up the dirty word when it comes to iPhones…..”Jailbreaking.”

Now I know that most of our everyday readers have probably heard about jailbreaking your iPhone and some have successfully attempted to gain access to your phones fullest potential. What we would like to do now is give you ways on how to get the most out of thousands of tweaks and hundreds of sources that sit in Cydia.

If you have not jailbroken your iPhone yet, we will show you things that you can do to your phone that you may have not thought possible. We don’t want you to think that you have to do this; we just want to show you why you should do this. Each week we will show you how to change your phones appearance and create a better functioning multimedia device, right in the palm of your hands.

This being our first installment of many to come, I would like to show you how to add a source into your Cydia library. This will allow you to find all of those great programs that have been developed for users like you, to make your iPhone do just about whatever you want. (Except for cleaning those dirty dishes that are sitting in the sink!)

First thing you will need to do is open up Cydia. Wait for it to load and refresh. On the bottom of the screen you will see a tab called “Manage.” Just click on it and choose “Sources.”

Once inside just hit “edit” on the top right and then hit “add” in the top left of your screen. You will get a box that pops up asking for a source.

Now that you have figured out where to add a source, let me tell you a couple of important pieces of important information about it. First, when you add them, you need to make sure that you are typing the sources address in perfectly. If it is not typed in correctly, you will not be able to connect to the sources’ database and download their programs.

Let me give you an example of a source and how you should type it in.

When you type this in make certain that you have the back slashes in and the one at the end is added. Most of the time it doesn’t matter but there have been some cases where I wasn’t able to access the sources database. If any letters are capitalized make sure that you capitalize it as this has been an issue in the past as well.

Now that you have added the source into Cydia, you will be able to look at their entire collection of tweaks, themes, hacks, mods or whatever else they may have.

There is a special reason why I have chosen this source as our example for the day. Now that you have it added to your iPhone, I highly recommend the program called NoCyFresh. This will improve your experience each and every time you enter into your Cydia app.

There will be a few extra steps to get this program added to your phone but as you will soon find out, it will be well worth it in the long run.

[UPDATE: NoCyFresh was found to actual replace Cydia with a modified version, which many find a dangerous situation. A few people have even experienced freezing. Versions of NoCyFresh available now are designed actually remove the old application.]

If you have any comments, please don’t hesitate to add one down below or leave us a question. My pledge to you is this: We’ll share what we know, or find the answer for you, if there’s stuff we don’t!

Well that is all that we have for this week. Be sure to stay tuned here at TodaysiPhone.com as we will bring you interesting tweaks, hacks and modifications that you can do right from the palm of your hand every “Jailbreakers’ Tuesday.”
