TiP reader loses 8 lbs using an iPhone app
There’s nothing better than a little word of mouth, like finding the best restaurants, mechanics or doctors. Likewise, there’s nothing iPhone/iPod Touch users love more than getting and sharing info on great apps. (Personally, I’m always showing off the neat stuff on my phone — whether people care to see it or not!)
With 100,000+ apps in the store and a mountain of accessories out there, it could take years for us to cover it all. We won’t stop trying, but to make our site even more useful, we’ve also made it easy and fun for users to connect and share info with each other via our messageboard.
Here’s the latest, from TiP community member “Grace,” who has just offered her own short, unofficial app review. Why is this one so special? Because when it comes to diet apps, finding one that’s simple and actually works is definitely a unique treat.
“I started using ‘Lose It!’ at the end of December and since then I’ve lost 8 lbs. And all it does is help me log…” (If you’re interested in her full comments, click this link to read the rest.)
In all honesty, I’m probably going to give this app a try, based on her terrific experience with it. So a big “Thank You” for this one, “Grace” — both professionally and personally! If it works as well for me as it did for her, you can bet you’ll be seeing a full-fledged official review here on the site.
Lose It is a free app available in the App Store. (Link launches iTunes) For more info on this developer, hit up the website.

I’m so jealous, I’d love this App.. but it’s not available in Britain.
You do know you can simply switch to the US store by clicking the UK flag in the bottom right corner of the iTunes store and then selecting the US flag, right?
You do know you can then download it for free and, if you want, switch back to the UK store, right?
Right!?
Of course, and I have tried this in the past, switching to the US store.
Unfortunately, however, when you get to the ‘Sign In’ window and enter your details it informs you politely you shouldn’t be in the US store and forcefully escorts you back to the UK iTunes store where the App is not available.
It’s a vicious cycle.
That’s weird. I live in Romania and I can use any store I want. US is the main one since it’s the biggest so I use it most but I remember downloading some local apps as well as a dutch one, can’t remember what it was tho.
It worked perfectly fine for me.
I’m not sure what the reason is, I’ll try and find out though. It could be that the UK’s copyright laws are different to the rest of the world. For me to try and register in the US store it requires me to have a credit/debit card set-up at an American billing address, which I’m also looking in to now. Thanks for the suggestion anyways, appreciated.
I’d just like to confirm that I’ve also been using this app for the last 5 weeks. I’ve lost 10 pounds already and am on pace to hit 165 by the beginning of May! It seems so simple, but that’s the key…no stupid diets, you simply have a daily nutrition log at your fingertips so it makes it super easy to monitor what you’re eating. I love it and would recommend it to anyone as well.
It simply allows you to tell your body when you have eaten enough, instead of the other way around.
