New iPhone OS Update

Some of you may or may not be aware, but Apple today released a minor software/firmware update for the iPhone OS. If you haven’t already done so, plug your iPhone in, go to iTunes and hit the ‘check for update’ icon. According to Apple, update 3.1.3 improves the accuracy of your battery level indicator. It also deals with problems experienced when using the Japanese Kana keyboard, which often would cause certain apps to crash. The update is for iPhone and iPod Touch.

Although this is nothing major, it does make you wonder what major facelift the iPhone OS will get in the future. When will we see OS 3.2 on the iPhone, or even OS 4.o? What new features will the next major update include? Who knows, but we’ll all have to make do with this minor bug fix for now.

  1. Also, if you value you jailbreak/unlock, then avoid upgrading to the latest firmware, as it brings nothing substantial to the party.

  2. Good comment. Thanks for mentioning that, Gregz0r!
